Anne Kyyrö Quinn selected by Max Fraser as one of the 20 designers featured in his new book Design UK, second edition, published by conran Octopus - press release

'For me, finding an elegant and unobtrusive cushion design that will compliment a sharp-lined super-slick Italian sofa had always been a mission, until I discovered the refined work of Anne Kyyrö Quinn whose stunning textile designs have so effortlessly fused textile into three dimensional product design'. Max Fraser, author of Design UK II.

Max Fraser, when updating the latest edition of the 'must-have interiors bible' Design UK, chose Anne Kyyrö Quinn as one of only twenty designers to be featured and the only designer with textile design background that he hand-picked to create a product that will appear in, and be launched alongside the book. For this project, Anne has taken yet another fabric and applied it in an unexpected way. The 'Ruffle Light' is thought to be the first time that anyone has used the fabric from mass-produced vertical office blinds to create a softly ambient and yet complex lighting design.

Finnish born designer, Anne Kyyrö Quinn who is living and working in London, produces stylish contemporary home accessories with distinctive raised textural detailing. Anne Kyyrö Quinn has developed her own unique way of constructing sculptural three-dimensional textile surfaces.

Anne Kyyrö Quinn's distinctive style comes from her clean lines and an innovative selection of materials and eye-catching colour combinations. Anne Kyyrö Quinn juxtaposes materials not traditionally used for interior furnishings - taking utilitarian fabrics like sail cloth or industrial felt and contrasting them with high quality linens and woollen cloths.

Anne Kyyrö Quinn's growing range of products illustrates a brilliant crossover between the disciplines of handicraft and of industrial design which, when combined with the vision and daring to experiment with the unconventional or unfashionable, has created a blossoming of innovation. With all of her designs there is a Nordic clarity, which makes them easily recognisable. 'Loop', 'Laine', 'Linea' and 'Bold Circles' are just a few designs that have achieved much acclaim with the press both in the UK and internationally.

Anne Kyyrö Quinn is always working and developing new designs - another new design to be unveiled at the Design UK launch is 'Twist'. For this occasion the design is in the sample form of a cushion, but 'Twist', as with many of the existing product lines, have been created with a view that it can also be made into other products such as an amazing throw or window blind.
